About Imbued Origins

“I am my own muse. I am the subject I know best. The subject I want to know better.” - Frida Kahlo

I like to explore humanity in my art; the emotional and intellectual experiences that define us, and the connections that we seek. We struggle for power, we yearn for love, we want to see ourselves in others, we celebrate our shared interests. It’s how we identify our community, our place of belonging in this world, in spite of where we come from or what we look like or who we connect to. And I want to imbue my art in the nuances of these relationships.

With Imbued Origins, I wanted to create a space to celebrate that complexity, to create art that is deeply hued by our individualities. My work highlights the bonds between sisters, lovers, friends. And it explores how we value ourselves, the importance of prioritizing and celebrating your own identity. I use a lot of circular imagery and composition in my work to represent how relationship patterns repeat across space and time – it feels as though there are specific energies that correspond to each relationship, and tie humankind together.
